3l water
4 or 5 strips of dried mauby bark
1/2 tsp aniseed
1 piece of cinnamon
600g sugar (or to taste)
2 tbsp Angostura bitters (or to taste)
Method:
Combine the ingredients (except the bitters) along with 1l water in a pan, bring to a boil and continue boiling for 30 minutes. Strain the mixture through a fine-meshed sieve then add the remaining water and the Angostura bitters. Adjust the sweetness to your liking then allow the mixture to cool and bottle.
Store in the refrigerator and serve cold over ice.
